Gore, Reed keynote speakers at West Coast Green in San Jose

Nobel laureate and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore will give the keynote address at West Coast Green's 2008 conference, Sept. 25-27.  Scientists, economists, architects, builders, venture capitalists, strategists, chief executive officers and government officials will be attending the event.

Gore joins a lineup of speakers that includes Sarah Susanka, David Suzuki, Hunter Lovins, and San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed. Mayor Reed will discuss the San Jose Green Vision on Thursday, September 25th at 9:30-11:30am. Reed's 10 ambitious goals will guide green building efforts in the City of San Jose over the next 15 years. Gore's keynote speech is scheduled for Sept. 27 at 9:30 a.m.

"Bridging the worlds of environmentalism, finance, technology and politics together, Mr. Gore is ideally suited to speak to this audience of innovators striving to integrate green building practices and leading edge technology into the 21st century in a way that is both smart and sustainable," organizers said.

Gore is expected to speak on the need for the building industry to "green" itself and the role that architects, engineers and homeowners play in this shift.  He is co-founder and chairman of Generation Investment Management, a firm that is focused on a new approach to Sustainable Investing.

West Coast Green incorporates new breakthroughs in conference design by creating an Action Hub on the show floor. Available to all guests, the Action Hub is a seed for innovation and a place where ideas can flourish.

Anyone is free to mingle with speakers and specialists to facilitate investment introductions and opportunities. This allows ideas to infuse with best business practices and market ready disciplined thinking. As a result, networks can form and flourish long after the show's conclusion.

The event takes place at the San Jose Convention Center. Organizers expect the event to draw approximately 15,000.
